Sometimes watching the public without them realizing can be quite fun. For instance today, as I was waiting for the bus I observed how the rest of the people were waiting. Some were quite obvious they were impatient and well for others they just waited silently minding their own business .It was quite fascinating the way they looked at each other, the way they smiled without knowing each other and even the way they made conversation without uttering a word from a distance. For example a lady who was sitting next to a man who kept coughing, without saying a word she looked at him from the corner of her eye and then turned to the side where her back was facing him and the man on the other hand just watched her reaction, stood up and walked to the corner of the bus stop (distance from the lady). All these made up a whole scene of conversation without words. NON-VERBAL COMMUNICATION it is called. This can be communicated through gesture, touch, body language or posture, facial expression and even eye contact. It can also be communicated through object communication such as clothing, hairstyles or even colour and time! There are many ways you can communicate without words but what I saw today between the lady and the man who was coughing involved body language, facial expression and eye contact, without uttering a word the lady “told” the man that she wasn’t comfortable sitting next to him and the man understood her body language and replied her by moving away. There not always we have to speak to convey a message or even to start a conversation. The look on our faces and every move we make has a meaning and without us realizing people are watching and analyzing us .
