Gesture

When we are communicating with people, especially during presentation we always love to gesture to express our feelings and thoughts. However, did you gesturing appropriately while you are speaking?

Now, I would like to share some rule of thumb for gesturing during presentation. First, you should not plan and rehearse your gestures while speaking with the audience. If you just plan your gesture and insert it while communicate, then you will be just acting like a robot. Hence, you just need to relax and let the gestures happen.

Next, you can videotape yourself and check whether you have always doing some annoying gestures while speaking. By doing so, you can spot some gestures which you find very annoying and you love to do it while speaking. Consequently, you can try to eliminate those gestures.

In addition, you should not try to imitate other speakers. You should use gestures which are appropriate for you because how you gesture is depend a lot on your personality and communicating style.

Furthermore, you should try to gesture visibly especially facing with a large amount of audience. You can try to adjust your gestures while speaking with many audiences, so that they can see it and catch your attention. In this way, it can enhance your presentation and audience will feel comfortable while watching you presentation.

Moreover, you should put your best face forward. You can show some facial expression according to your mood while you are speaking to the audience. Hence, you can try to videotape yourself and try to detect your facial expression while giving a talk.

Last but not least, you should move away the lectern. You can try to stand in a place which you feel free to gesture and comfortable and the audience can see you and hear you.
